Penn Part TRQ Versa Gear Kit
TORQUE star drag reels are manufactured with a standard 6.0:1 gear set providing a high-speed gear ratio for rapid line retrieve. However, you may find the need for a lower gear ratio/higher torque in certain fishing situations. For example: bottom fishing for a species of fish where power is more important than speed. For those situations, Penn offers the Versa-Gear™ system which allows you to purchase and install a gear kit to modify the Torque series of reels ratios to either a 4.8:1 ratio or 5.4:1 ratio.
Versa-Gear™ Kits are for use with any of these sizes of Penn Torque reels; 12,15, 25, 30 or 40. Don't let the part description suffix TRQ40 or TRQ25 confuse you.
